Apple surprise

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1 c
• cinnamon - 1 tsp
• milk - 1 c
• butter or margarine - 1/2 c
• flour - 1 c
• nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
• baking powder - 2 tsp
• cooked or canned apples - 2 c

How to make apple surprise:

Melt butter in deep skillet or baking dish. Mix next 4 ingredients into a batter and pour onto melted butter. Drain fruit; add spices and spoon onto batter. Bake 25 to 30 minutes at 350° until batter covers fruit and browns. Fruit settles to bottom and cake rises to top and makes a delicious, moist dessert. Serve plain or topped with cream.
