Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1/2 c
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 2 Tbsp
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
- baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- all-purpose flour - 2 c
- egg yolks, lightly beaten - 2 item
- peeled, thinly sliced cooking apples - 2 c
- egg whites, lightly beaten for glaze - 2 item
- Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly
How to make apple pie bars:
Combine first 4 ingredients. Cut butter into flour mixture with pastry blender until mixture is crumbly. Stir in egg yolks (mixture will be crumbly).Press 1/2 mixture in bottom of lightly greased 13 x 9-inch pan. Combine next 4 ingredients with apples. Arrange over crust. Crumble reserved crust mixture over apples. Press gently. Brush with egg white. Bake at 350° for 40 minutes. Cool; drizzle with glaze.Glaze:1 c. powdered sugar2 Tbsp. milk1 tsp. vanilla Combine, stir well and glaze bars.
