  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour - 2 Tbsp
  • butter - 2 Tbsp
  • pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • chicken broth - 1 c
  • grated cheese - 1/2 c
  • can evaporated milk - 1 oz
  • slivered almonds - 1/2 c
  • bread crumbs seasoned - 1 c
  • wedged onions, parboiled - 3 c

How to make vidalia onion casserole:

Melt butter; stir in flour, then broth and milk. Stir constantly until sauce begins to thicken and is smooth. Add drained onions, almonds and seasonings. Pour into greased 1 1/2-quart casserole dish. Cover with bread crumbs and cheese. Bake at 375° for 30 minutes. Serves 6.
