Vanilla cream pie
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2/3 c
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt - 1/3 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 1/3 c
- eggs, separated - 3 item
- Meringue:3 egg whites
- milk, scalded - 2 c
- baked pie shell - 1 item
- few drops vanilla flavoring - 1 item
How to make vanilla cream pie:
Meringue:3 egg whites1/4 c. sugar few drops vanilla flavoring Blend sugar, cornstarch and salt; slowly add hot milk. Cook and stir over boiling water until thick. Add 1/3 of mixture to well beaten egg yolks. Then stir in remaining yolks. Stir and cook 2 minutes; remove from heat and add butter and vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell and top with meringue or Cool Whip.Note: For chocolate cream pie, add 2 squares of baking chocolate or 1/2 cup cocoa to hot milk.
