Ingredients/Components

  • grated Cheddar cheese - 1/2 lb
  • onion, chopped - 1 item
  • tomatoes, chopped - 3 item
  • tomato juice - 2 c
  • lean ground beef
  • salt, pepper and garlic powder to taste - 1 item
  • bag Fritos corn chips - 1 (8
  • large solid head iceberg lettuce - 1 item
  • La Victoria taco sauce - 1/2 c

How to make taco salad:

Brown ground beef, breaking into small pieces. Drain off fat. Add tomato juice, taco sauce and salt, pepper and garlic powder to your taste. Sauce should be a little hotter to your taste than you would like it if you were eating it alone. Add more taco sauce, if necessary. Simmer so mixture thickens a little.

In a large salad bowl, cut up lettuce. Add tomatoes, onion, grated cheese and slightly crushed corn chips. Add hot meat sauce and toss salad. Serve immediately. Serves 4 to 6.
