  • pkg - 1 oz
  • salt - 1/2 Tbsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • water - 1/4 c
  • oil - 1 c
  • carton sour cream - 1 oz
  • garlic powder - 1/4 tsp
  • pepper - 1/4 Tbsp
  • chili powder - 4 Tbsp
  • taco seasoning mix - 1 pkg
  • cumin - 1/4 Tbsp
  • Cheddar cheese - 8 oz
  • oregano powder - 1/4 tsp
  • dried onions - 1 Tbsp
  • head of lettuce, shredded - 1 item
  • to 4 tomatoes, chopped - 3 item
  • peeled tomatoes - 44 oz
  • black olives, onions or jalapenos for garnish - 1 item
  • sage, powdered - 1/8 tsp

How to make taco salad:

Mix 3/4 of the tomatoes well at high speed in the mixer. Rejuvenate the dried onions in 1/4 cup water (hot). Place the remaining 1/4 of the tomatoes in the mixer, together with all ingredients, except the flour and oil. Beat this mixture well; put it in a pan with the rest of the tomatoes. Cook this mixture for 5 minutes, checking to see if there is enough salt and pepper from time to time. Add as necessary.

Heat up the oil. Remove some of the mixture from the pan and put it in the mixer with the flour. Beat well so there will not be any lumps when you make the sauce. Pour the mixture of flour and tomato sauce in the oil slowly, continually stirring. Watch out for the volume. This makes a 12-inch frying pan full of sauce.
