Ingredients/Components

  • flour - 1 c
  • brown sugar - 1/2 c
  • cornstarch - 4 Tbsp
  • oil - 1 Tbsp
  • baking powder
  • pinch of salt - 1 item
  • vinegar - 1 Tbsp
  • ginger - 1/4 tsp
  • catsup - 6 Tbsp
  • pineapple juice - 6 Tbsp
  • cubed pork - 8 oz
  • water enough to make a thick smooth batter - 1 item

How to make sweet and sour pork:

Sauce:2 Tbsp. cornstarch1/2 c. brown sugar pinch of salt1 Tbsp. vinegar1/4 tsp. ginger6 Tbsp. catsup6 Tbsp. pineapple juice Prepare batter. Mix well until smooth. Heat oil in wok to deep fry. I use my deep fryer. Dip cubed pork one at a time into batter and drop into hot oil. Fry 4 or 5 at a time. Remove with a slotted spoon to paper towels. Continue until all is done. Cook your favorite stir-fry vegetable. Mix with pork cubes and pour sauce over.

Sauce: Cook sauce at a slow heat to boil, stirring constantly. Allow to simmer 1 to 2 minutes or until completely clear.
