Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • dash of pepper - 1 item
  • cans tomato sauce - 2 oz
  • beef - 1 lb
  • uncooked instant rice - 1 c
  • cabbage leaves from a head of cabbage* - 12 item

How to make stuffed cabbage rolls:

*Place head of cabbage in boiling water; cover. Remove from heat and let stand until the leaves are limp (about 10 minutes). Remove from water. Cut around stem end of cabbage to remove leaves; drain. Pour 1/2 cup tomato sauce in bottom of ungreased 10 x 13-inch casserole dish.

Mix the next 5 ingredients. Place about 1/3 cup mixture at stem end of each leaf. Fold edges of leaf in and then roll securely. Place, seam side down, in casserole dish. Stuff any remaining beef mixture around rolls. Drizzle remaining tomato sauce to cover rolls. Bake at 350° until the beef is done, about 45 minutes.
