Spanish rice
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- brown sugar - 1 Tbsp
- water
- pepper - 1/8 tsp
- Worcestershire sauce - 1 Tbsp
- chili powder - 1 tsp
- can tomatoes, cut up - 1 oz
- long grain rice - 1 c
- dash of hot pepper sauce - 1 item
- medium onion, chopped - 1 item
- slices bacon - 6 item
- small green pepper, chopped - 1 item
How to make spanish rice:
In a 10-inch skillet, cook bacon. Drain on paper towel. Crumble and set aside. Drain fat, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. In drippings, cook onion and green pepper until tender. Stir in undrained tomatoes, water, rice, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, salt, chili powder, pepper and hot pepper sauce. Cover; simmer about 30 minutes or until rice is done and most of the liquid is absorbed. Top with the crumbled bacon. Sprinkle with shredded Cheddar cheese, if desired.Recipe categories: Low protein, Low fat, Side dish.
