Shrimp marinara
Ingredients/Components
- dried oregano, crushed - 2 tsp
- cloves garlic, minced - 2 item
- dried basil, crushed - 2 tsp
- olive oil - 1/4 c
- coarsely chopped onion - 1 c
- tomato sauce - 12 oz
- peeled, deveined, large shrimp - 2 lb
- fresh basil for garnish if desired - 1 item
How to make shrimp marinara:
In a large saucepan, cook onion and garlic in hot oil, stirring occasionally, until onion is tender. Cut up tomatoes. Add tomatoes and juice, basil and oregano to onion mixture. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, 30 to 40 minutes, stirring occasionally, until most of the liquid is evaporated. Stir in shrimp. Cook, stirring, for 5 minutes or until shrimp are done.
