Ingredients/Components
- flour - 2 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking powder - 2 Tbsp
- shortening - 4 Tbsp
How to make shortcake:
Mix flour and baking powder. Add the shortening and mix well (like a pie crust). Add the buttermilk. Roll the dough 3/4 inch thick. Make circles with a cutter or glass. Cook at 375° until lightly brown.To Serve: Cut each cookie in half. Add your preferred fruits (strawberries, raspberries, blueberries, etc.). Top with whipped cream. Add the other half of the cookie and spread with fruits and cream again (if you prefer).
