  • sugar
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • melted butter
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • can stewed tomatoes - 1 1/2
  • basil - 1/4 tsp
  • onions - 1/4 c
  • cubed and toasted white bread - 1 c

How to make scalloped tomatoes:

Saute onions in butter. Add sugar, basil, salt and pepper. Arrange one-half of tomatoes in 1-quart greased casserole. Top with one-half bread cubes. Repeat layer. Bake uncovered at 375° for 45 minutes.
