Rhubarb dumplings
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- milk - 1/2 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 2 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- water
- cold water - 1/2 c
- baking powder
- sifted flour - 1 c
- drops red food coloring - 3 item
- cinnamon red hots - 1/4 c
- rhubarb, cut in 1-inch pieces - 4 c
- Combine cornstarch and water
How to make rhubarb dumplings:
Combine the first 5 ingredients, bring to a boil and simmer for 5 minutes. Combine cornstarch and water. Stir into rhubarb. Boil 1 minute.Dumplings:1/2 tsp. vanilla1/2 c. milk2 Tbsp. butter1/4 tsp. salt1 1/2 tsp. baking powder1/3 c. sugar1 c. sifted flour Stir dry ingredients and cut in butter. Add milk and vanilla; stir well until moistened. Drop by tablespoon onto hot rhubarb sauce. Cover pan. Steam for 20 minutes with lid closed.
