Ingredients/Components
- eggs - 2 item
- sugar - 2 c
- butter or margarine - 1 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- cake flour
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- cocoa - 1 Tbsp
- vinegar - 1 Tbsp
- red cake coloring - 2 oz
- soda
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- Add eggs and beat until fluffy
- milk
- powdered sugar
- dash of salt - 1 item
- chopped pecans - 1 c
- can coconut - 1 item
How to make red velvet cake:
Cream butter and sugar. Add eggs and beat until fluffy. Make a paste of vinegar and cocoa and add to mixture. Sift salt and soda with flour. Add to mixture alternately with buttermilk. Blend well. Add vanilla and coloring. Mix well. Pour into greased cake pans and bake in oven at 350° for about 30 minutes.Red Velvet Icing:1/2 c. flour1 1/2 c. milk1 c. butter or margarine1 1/2 c. powdered sugar dash of salt1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped pecans1 can coconut Cook flour and milk until thick and let cool. Cream butter or margarine, powdered sugar, dash of salt and vanilla. Add cool milk mixture. Beat all at high speed until fluffy. Stir in chopped pecans and coconut.
