Ingredients/Components
- sugar
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- butter - 3/4 c
- egg yolks - 4 item
- baking powder
- sifted flour - 2 c
- poppy seed - 1/2 c
- beaten egg whites - 4 item
- walnut meats - 1/2 c
- Cream butter
How to make poppy seed cake:
Soak poppy seed in milk for 2 hours. Cream butter. Add sugar, milk and poppy seed. Add dry ingredients, then egg whites. Bake at 375° for 30 to 35 minutes.Filling:1 or 2 Tbsp. cornstarch1 1/2 c. milk3/4 c. sugar4 egg yolks1/2 c. walnut meats1 tsp. vanilla Dissolve cornstarch in a little of the milk; then add rest of milk and cook in double boiler until thick.
