Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/4 c
  • water - 1 c
  • vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp
  • cream of tartar - 2 Tbsp
  • food coloring - 2 tsp
  • white flour - 1 c
  • medium pot - 1 item
  • plastic bag or airtight container - 1 item

How to make play dough:

Mix flour, salt and cream of tartar in medium pot. Add water, food coloring and oil. Stir over medium heat 3 to 5 minutes (mixture will look globby). It will turn into dough. When mixture forms a ball in the center of the pot, turn off stove and let cool. Then remove from pot and place on a floured surface. Squish it and punch it around a bit. When you're done, put it in a bag or container and store in the fridge.
