Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1 tsp
- eggs - 2 item
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- brown sugar - 3 c
- butter - 3/4 c
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- ginger - 1 tsp
- warm water
- cloves - 1 tsp
- white sugar - 3 c
- lard - 1/4 c
- anise seed
How to make peppernuts:
Mix ingredients. Let stand overnight in refrigerator. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut every 1/2-inch. Keep dough chilled. Gently pinch with fingers into pyramid shape. Bake in hot oven at 400° for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.Recipe categories: American, North american, Midwestern u.s..
