Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour
  • brown sugar - 3 c
  • butter - 3/4 c
  • baking powder - 1 Tbsp
  • ginger - 1 tsp
  • warm water
  • cloves - 1 tsp
  • white sugar - 3 c
  • lard - 1/4 c
  • anise seed

How to make peppernuts:

Mix ingredients. Let stand overnight in refrigerator. Roll out 1/2-inch thick and cut every 1/2-inch. Keep dough chilled. Gently pinch with fingers into pyramid shape. Bake in hot oven at 400° for about 10 minutes or until golden brown.
