Peanut butter pie
Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 1/2 tsp
- granulated sugar - 2/3 c
- salt - 1/4 tsp
- butter - 1 Tbsp
- cornstarch - 1/4 c
- powdered sugar - 1 c
- peanut butter - 1/2 c
- egg yolks, beaten - 3 item
- scalded milk - 2 c
- baked pie shell - 1 item
- egg whites for meringue - 3 item
How to make peanut butter pie:
Combine powdered sugar and peanut butter until the appearance of biscuit mix. Spread half of this mixture over the pie shell. Combine cornstarch, sugar, salt and scalded milk. Pour small amount over the beaten egg yolks. Mix well, then return to the milk mixture. Cook in the top half of a double boiler until mixture thickens. Add butter and vanilla; pour into pie shell. Top with meringue. Sprinkle remainder of peanut butter mix over the meringue. Bake at 325° until brown.Recipe categories: Desserts, Pie, Pies and tarts.
