sugar - 1/2 c
vanilla - 1 tsp
salt - 1/2 tsp
brown sugar - 1/2 c
water - 1 Tbsp
soda - 1/2 tsp
shortening - 1/2 c
sifted flour - 1 c
peanut butter - 1/2 c
unbeaten egg - 1 item

How to make peanut butter cookies:

Sift together the first 3 ingredients. Combine in a large bowl the remaining ingredients. Beat 2 minutes. Add sifted mixture and beat for 1 minute. Drop by teaspoon or roll into balls on a greased cookie sheet. Press with a fork to crisscross (flour fork). Bake 15 to 20 minutes at 325°. Makes approximately 2 to 3 dozen large cookies.
