Old-fashioned oatmeal cookies
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- packed brown sugar - 1 c
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- shortening - 1 c
- all-purpose flour - 1/4 c
- chopped walnuts - 1/2 c
- raisins - 1 c
- ground cloves - 1/8 tsp
- oatmeal, uncooked - 3 c
- ground cinnamon - 1 tsp
- ground nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
How to make old-fashioned oatmeal cookies:
Combine raisins, walnuts and 1/4 cup flour; toss well to coat and set aside. Cream shortening; gradually add sugar, beating well. Add eggs, beating well after each. Combine 1 1/4 cups flour, soda, salt and spices. Stir into creamed mixture; stir in oatmeal (dough will be stiff). Stir in raisin mixture and vanilla. Drop dough by rounded teaspoonful onto lightly greased cookie sheets. Bake at 350° for 12 to 15 minutes.Recipe categories: Desserts, Drop cookies, Cookie and brownie.
