Oatmeal cookies

Ingredients/Components

• sugar - 1/4 c
• vanilla - 1/2 tsp
• salt - 1/2 tsp
• flour - 3/4 c
• baking soda - 1/2 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• shortening - 1/2 c
• brown sugar, packed - 1/2 c
• oatmeal - 1 c
• walnuts, chopped - 1/2 c

How to make oatmeal cookies:

Mix all ingredients at medium speed until well mixed, occasionally scraping the sides. Drop by teaspoonfuls 1-inch apart onto cookie sheet. Bake at 350° for 12 minutes or until lightly browned. Immediately remove to wire racks to cool. Makes 4 dozen
