Ingredients/Components
- vanilla - 3/4 tsp
- salt - 1/2 tsp
- flour - 1 c
- baking powder
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- egg - 1 item
- shortening - 1/2 c
- brown sugar, packed - 1 c
- quick oats
How to make oatmeal cookies:
Mix flour, baking powder, soda and salt. Beat shortening and sugar until creamy. Beat in egg and vanilla. Blend in flour mixture. Stir in oats. Chill. Shape dough into balls about 1-inch in diameter. Place about 2 inches apart on an ungreased baking sheet. Bake at 350° for only about 10 minutes for soft chewy cookies, longer for crunchy cookies. Remove from baking sheet while warm.
