Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 c
  • vanilla extract - 1 item
  • flour
  • cornstarch - 3 Tbsp
  • cold water - 3 Tbsp
  • cocoa - 2 Tbsp
  • boiling water - 1/4 c
  • egg - 1 item
  • shortening - 1/2 c
  • egg whites - 2 item
  • cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
  • marshmallows - 4 item
  • nut meats - 1/2 c
  • soda in 1/2 c - 1 tsp
  • Cool and fill, then top with frosting

How to make million dollar cake:

Filling:1 c. sugar1 3/4 c. boiling water2 Tbsp. cocoa3 Tbsp. cornstarch butter, size of an egg (4 to 6 Tbsp.)1/2 c. nut meats vanilla extract Cake: Combine in order given and bake in 2 greased and floured 8 x 9-inch layer pans at 350° for 25 to 30 minutes. Cool and fill, then top with frosting.

Filling: Combine in top of double boiler. Cook over hot water until thick. While warm, spread between layers and on top of cake (I split layers and fill between all of them and top and sides).Frosting:1/2 c. light brown sugar3 Tbsp. cold water1/2 tsp. cream of tartar2 egg whites4 marshmallows Frosting: Mix all in top of double boiler except marshmallows. Have water in lower part boiling gently. Beat exactly 7 minutes as it cooks. Add marshmallows after cooking 3 minutes. Remove from heat and cool. Spread over top and sides of cake. Finally take 1 ounce square of unsweetened chocolate and put in an envelope made of aluminum foil and lay in warm oven to melt. Snip off corner of envelope and drizzle on edge of cake.
