Ingredients/Components

  • olive oil or salad oil - 1/3 c
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • dry red wine - 2/3 c
  • flank steak - 1 to
  • each: crumbled oregano, crumbled marjoram and pepper - 1/8 tsp

How to make marinated london broil:

Mix the wine, oil, soy sauce, oregano, marjoram and pepper. Place steak in a deep bowl; pour marinade over it. Cover; chill at least 12 to 18 hours, turning meat once or twice. (Much easier if you use the Tupperware marinating covered container and just turn over several times during the 12 to 18 hours). (Or, you may use a large Ziploc bag to marinate steak in instead of bowl.)

Drain meat; broil 4 inches from heat for 5 minutes on each side. Make thin slices across the grain and diagonal to the top surface of the steak. Save the juices. Serve the steak with cooked rice mixed slightly with the meat juices. (I have also cooked this on a gas grill.)
