Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • chopped onion - 1/2 c
  • olive oil - 1 Tbsp
  • red wine - 2 Tbsp
  • ground pepper - 1/16 tsp
  • can crushed tomatoes - 1 oz
  • garlic clove, crushed - 1 item
  • Italian seasoning, crushed - 1 tsp

How to make marinara sauce:

In a large saucepan, heat oil until hot. Add onion and garlic. Saute until tender, about 5 minutes. Add crushed tomatoes, salt, Italian seasoning and black pepper. Bring to a boil. Reduce heat and simmer, covered, 10 minutes, stirring occasionally. Add wine. Simmer, covered, for 5 minutes. Serve over freshly cooked pasta. Yield: About 4 cups.
