Indian fry bread
Ingredients/Components
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 5 c
- baking powder - 1 Tbsp
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- warm water - 2 c
How to make indian fry bread:
In a mixing bowl, add 4 cups flour, unsifted. Add baking powder, baking soda, salt and mix thoroughly. Add 2 cups warm water, 1 cup at a time, until mixture becomes sticky. Use remaining cup of flour in two parts, 1/2 cup to knead the dough and 1/2 cup to roll dough out.Cut rolled out dough into 2 1/2-inch squares. Fry in medium heated oil. Squares will bubble up. Flip squares to brown on reverse side. Take out, drain and serve hot. Makes 28 pieces.
