Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • oil - 2 Tbsp
  • cloves garlic, crushed - 6 item
  • juice of 1 lemon
  • onions, diced - 2 item
  • cumin seed - 1/2 tsp
  • cayenne pepper - 1/2 tsp
  • coriander - 3/4 tsp
  • garam masala - 1 tsp
  • medium tomatoes, peeled, seeded and chopped - 2 item
  • turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
  • cooked chickpeas - 4 c
  • 1-inch piece ginger root, grated
  • small potatoes, boiled, peeled and chopped - 4 item

How to make indian chickpeas:

Heat oil. Add cumin and onions. Cook 3 minutes. Add garlic and ginger. Cook 5 minutes on low heat. Add turmeric, coriander, cayenne and salt. Stir; add chopped tomatoes and garam masala. Cook on low heat 10 minutes. Add chickpeas and lemon juice. Cook 5 minutes; add potatoes. Serve over white steamed basmati rice, garnished with chopped green jalapeno peppers.
