Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 1 tsp
  • milk - 3/4 c
  • salt - 2 tsp
  • flour - 1 c
  • water
  • eggs, beaten - 2 item
  • baking powder - 1 tsp
  • vegetable oil - 2 Tbsp
  • finely chopped onion - 4 tsp
  • corn meal
  • frying oil - 1 item

How to make hush puppies:

Combine corn meal and water over a low fire until water is cooked down. Add milk, oil, eggs and onion. Mix in all dry ingredients with corn meal mixture. Drop spoonfuls into 375° oil and fry until crispy golden brown. Drain and serve immediately.
