Ingredients/Components
- milk - 1/4 c
- flour - 1/2 c
- baking powder - 2 Tbsp
- boiling water - 1 item
- egg, beaten - 1 item
- garlic salt - 1 tsp
- self-rising corn meal - 2 c
- onion powder or minced onion - 1/2 tsp
How to make hush puppies:
Mix corn meal, flour, baking powder, garlic salt and onion in a bowl. Add enough boiling water to moisten. Add mixture of egg and milk. When adding water, it will foam up, do not add too much. Drop from teaspoon into hot fat and fry.We serve with butter and strawberry jam. Also with farm-raised catfish, French fries, cole slaw and tartar sauce. Yum!
