Ingredients/Components

• salt - 1/2 tsp
• flour - 2 tsp
• buttermilk - 3/4 c
• baking powder - 1/2 tsp
• baking soda - 1/4 tsp
• egg - 1 item
• cornmeal - 1 c
• chopped onion - 3 Tbsp

How to make hush puppies:

Mix dry ingredients together. Beat egg; add buttermilk and onion, mixing well. Stir into dry ingredients; drop by teaspoonful into hot grease at 375°. Drain on paper towels, then serve while hot. Makes 12 to 18 hush puppies.
