- milk - 2/3 c
- egg - 1 item
- finely chopped onion - 1/4 c
- self-rising cornmeal
How to make hush puppies:
In deep saucepan, heat oil to 375°. In mixing bowl, mix cornmeal, milk and egg until blended well. Stir in onion. Drop, a few at a time, by rounded teaspoonfuls into deep hot fat. Fry for 2 minutes or until golden brown, turning once. Drain on paper towel. Makes about 20.Recipe categories: American, Side dish, Southern u.s..
