Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • buttermilk
  • baking soda - 3/4 tsp
  • finely chopped onion - 2 Tbsp
  • yellow cornmeal

How to make hush puppies:

Heat oil to 375°. Mix cornmeal, salt, onion and baking soda. Stir in buttermilk. Drop by spoonfuls into hot oil. Fry until brown, about 2 minutes.
