- boiling water - 3/4 c
- salt to taste - 1 item
- white cornmeal - 1 c
- bacon fat, butter or oil - 2 Tbsp
How to make hoe cakes:
Combine cornmeal and salt in a bowl. Pour in boiling water. Stir constantly. Beat until smooth. Drop spoonful of mixture into skillet of hot fat. Pat into flat circles. Brown on each side.Recipe categories: Pancakes and waffles, Breakfast, Grains.
