Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
- salt - 1 item
- butter - 1 item
- nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
- hot water - 1 item
- tapioca - 1 Tbsp
- to 6 medium green tomatoes - 5 item
- double crust pie shell - 1 item
- lemon, sliced thinly - 1/2 item
How to make green tomato pie:
Preheat oven to 400°. Slice tomatoes; cover with salt and hot water for 5 to 10 minutes. Rinse tomatoes well; add lemon, cinnamon, nutmeg and tapioca. Mix well, put in pie shell and dot with butter. Put on top crust and slit 4 or 5 times for venting. Bake for 45 minutes to an hour. Watch pie crust carefully, it might not take quite this long to bake it.Note: This is an excellent pie!
