Ingredients/Components

  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • nutmeg - 1/2 tsp
  • raisins
  • cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • broken walnuts - 1 c
  • Pet evaporated milk - 3/4 c
  • finely cut dates - 3/4 c
  • finely cut marshmallows - 2 doz
  • wine, liquor or brandy - 1/3 c
  • 2 1/2-inch graham crackers to fine crumbs - 6 doz
  • ready mixed cut up candied fruits

How to make fruit cake:

Put into a large bowl the crumbs, cinnamon, nutmeg, cloves, raisins, dates, walnuts and candied fruits. Add milk mixture. Mix with spoon, then with hands until crumbs are moistened. Press firmly into pan lined with wax paper (bottom and side) of a 9-inch tube pan or loaf pan holding about 6 cups. Cover tightly. Chill for 2 or 3 days before slicing. Keep in a cool place at all times. Makes 3 1/2 pounds.
