Ingredients/Components
- tart apples - 2 lb
- sugar or sugar to taste - 1/4 c
- butter bacon, ham or pork drippings give the apples good flavor - 3 Tbsp
How to make fried apples:
Wash, core and slice apples (do not peel). Place them in a heavy skillet in which the butter or drippings have been melted. Cover and cook over moderate heat until soft (5 to 10 minutes), then uncover and sprinkle with sugar. Cook, uncovered, until apples are delicately browned on underside. If overcooked, the apples will fall to pieces. Serve hot. Makes 5 servings.Recipe categories: Low protein, Fruit, Apple.
