  • cinnamon
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • flour
  • nutmeg - 1 tsp
  • baking soda - 1 tsp
  • light brown sugar
  • eggs, well beaten - 2 item
  • allspice - 1 tsp
  • ground cloves - 1/4 tsp
  • butter or shortening - 1/2 c
  • peeled and chopped apples - 2 c

How to make fresh apple cake:

Sift flour and next six ingredients. Cream butter in bowl and beat in sugar until well blended. Add beaten eggs, apples and sifted ingredients. Stir enough to blend. Pour into greased mold or 9 x 13-inch loaf pan. Bake 50 to 60 minutes at 350°.

You can add butterscotch chips to batter (6 ounce bag).
