Ingredients/Components

  • sugar - 2 c
  • cinnamon - 1/2 tsp
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • salt - 1 tsp
  • flour - 3 c
  • nutmeg - 1/4 tsp
  • soda
  • chopped dates - 1/2 c
  • cooking oil
  • juice of 1/2 lemon
  • nuts pecans or walnuts - 1 c
  • peeled and chopped fresh apples medium size - 3 c

How to make fresh apple cake:

Mix sugar, oil, vanilla, eggs, salt and lemon juice. Beat well. Sift flour, soda and spices. Add flour mixture to sugar mixture and beat. Add fruit and nuts. Mix well. Bake in a 10-inch pan which has been greased and floured. Bake at 325° for 1 1/2 hours. A Bundt pan is ideal. Freezes well.
