Crustless apple pie
Ingredients/Components
- cinnamon - 3/4 tsp
- baking soda - 1/2 tsp
- cream of tartar - 1/2 tsp
- lemon juice - 1 Tbsp
- honey - 1/2 c
- ground nutmeg - 1/8 tsp
- plain nonfat yogurt - 1/3 c
- ground allspice - 1/4 tsp
- whole wheat flour - 1/3 c
- plus 1/4 c - 1/4 c
- egg whites unbeaten - 2 item
- green cooking apples, finely chopped, peeled and cored
How to make crustless apple pie:
Preheat oven to 325°. Grind granola in food processor for 2 minutes; set aside.In medium saucepan, over low heat, simmer apples, lemon juice, honey, cinnamon and allspice for 10 minutes. Remove from stove and put mixture in a medium bowl. Let cool for 10 minutes.
Add egg whites, flour, 1/4 cup ground granola, baking soda and cream of tartar to apple mixture; mix well. Stir in yogurt and pour mixture into a 9-inch ovenproof glass pie dish. Sprinkle top with 1/4 cup ground granola and nutmeg.
Bake at 325° for 30 minutes or until top is set and lightly browned. Cool on wire rack 15 minutes. Serve warm or cold.
