Chocolate rum cake
Ingredients/Components
- butter - 3/4 c
- sugar
- cocoa - 3/4 c
- flour - 3 c
- baking soda - 3 tsp
- baking powder
- eggs - 2 item
- rum liquor - 1/4 c
- milk
- very hot strong coffee, prepared - 1 c
- vinegar - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- salt optional - 1/2 tsp
- Beat with mixer 5 minutes
- shortening - 1/2 c
- confectioners sugar - 4 c
- milk more or less to desired consistency - 1/4 c
How to make chocolate rum cake:
Mix all ingredients. Beat with mixer 5 minutes. Place in 2 (9-inch) greased and floured pans. Bake at 350° for approximately 25 to 35 minutes until top of cake springs back when touched. Moist cake.Note: If you do not use rum, increase milk to 1 1/2 cups.White Icing:1/2 c. butter1/2 c. shortening4 c. confectioners sugar2 tsp. vanilla1/4 c. milk (more or less to desired consistency) Beat with mixer.
