Ingredients/Components

  • sugar
  • eggs - 2 item
  • vanilla - 2 tsp
  • milk - 1/3 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • baking powder - 2 tsp
  • sifted flour - 2 c
  • shortening or butter - 1/2 c
  • chocolate squares, melted - 2 (1
  • chopped nuts use black walnuts - 1/2 c
  • sifted powdered sugar to roll cookies in - 1/2 c

How to make chocolate chews:

Cream shortening, sugar and vanilla. Add eggs; then add chocolate. Add dry ingredients, alternately with milk. Stir in nuts. Chill 2 to 3 hours.

Roll in 1-inch balls. Roll in powdered sugar. Bake on a greased cookie sheet for 30 minutes at 350°.
