Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- milk - 1 c
- oil - 1 c
- cocoa - 1/2 c
- buttermilk - 1 c
- baking soda - 2 tsp
- pinch of salt - 1 item
- boiling water - 1 c
- plain flour - 2 c
- oleo - 6 Tbsp
How to make chocolate cake:
Frosting:2 c. sugar6 Tbsp. cocoa1 c. milk6 Tbsp. oleo2 tsp. vanilla Mix sugar, eggs and oil; let stand.Sift flour, baking soda, cocoa and salt together. Then mix moist and dry ingredients together. Add buttermilk and boiling water and mix well. Add vanilla. Bake at 350° until done, approximately 30 to 35 minutes.
For frosting: Mix sugar, cocoa and milk and cook until mixture reaches soft ball stage when dropped in cold water. Remove from heat, add the oleo and vanilla. Cool slightly, beat and spread on cake. Add pecans to frosting, if desired.
Cake can be made into stacked layer cake or baked in 9 x 13-inch in pan.
