Ingredients/Components

  • salt - 1 tsp
  • cornstarch - 2 Tbsp
  • water - 1/4 c
  • salad oil - 1/4 c
  • pepper - 1/8 tsp
  • clove garlic, minced - 1 item
  • soy sauce - 1 Tbsp
  • thinly sliced celery - 1 c
  • onion - 1/4 c
  • beef bouillon cubes - 1 c
  • large green pepper, thinly sliced - 1 item
  • round or sirloin steak - 1 lb

How to make chinese pepper steak:

Trim and cut meat in slivers. Put oil, salt and pepper in electric frying pan or skillet. Add meat and cook until brown. Add 1 cup beef bouillon, garlic, celery, onion and green pepper. Simmer until vegetables are to desired doneness, approximately 20 minutes.

Mix cornstarch, water and soy sauce. Add to steak. Simmer 10 minutes. Serve over rice.

Chicken may be substituted for beef and different vegetables such as onions, fresh mushrooms, broccoli, cauliflower and carrots added and cooked as a stir-fry.
