- pkg - 1 oz
- heavy cream - 1/4 c
- maraschino cherries - 14 item
- can crushed pineapple, drained - 1 1/4
- pecan chips
- 9-inch prepared chocolate cake layers - 2 item
- pecan halves for garnish; optional - 1/2 c
How to make cherry chocolate cake:
In medium bowl, with electric mixer at medium speed, beat cream cheese and heavy cream until smooth. Slowly add powdered sugar, beating until smooth and creamy. Reserve 3 cherries, chop remaining cherries.In small bowl, combine 3/4 cup prepared frosting, 1/4 cup pecans, pineapple and chopped cherries. Place 1 cake layer on plate; spread with cherry filling. Top with remaining layer.
Frost cake with remaining frosting. Pat remaining pecans on side of cake; garnish with reserved cherries and pecan halves, if desired.
