Cheddar scones
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- half and half - 2/3 c
- salt - 3/4 tsp
- baking powder - 2 tsp
- all-purpose flour
- butter, melted - 1 Tbsp
- large egg, beaten - 1 item
- shredded sharp cheddar cheese - 1 c
- cold butter, cut into pieces - 1/4 c
How to make cheddar scones:
Combine 1st four ingredients. Cut in cold butter until crumbly. Sir in cheese. In separate bowl, stir together egg and half and half. Gradually add to flour mixture stirring with fork just until dry ingredients are moistened. Turn dough onto lightly floured surface. Knead 3-4 times, roll into a ball.Pat dough into a 7 inch circle on an ungreased baking sheet. Cut into six wedges using a sharp knife. Do not separate wedges. Bake at 400° for 16 - 18 minutes. Brush tops with melted butter.
