Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 Tbsp
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour
- oil - 1 Tbsp
- egg - 1 item
- yeast - 1 pkg
- tap hot water - 3/4 c
How to make challah:
Dissolve yeast in hot water. Add remaining ingredients. Stir and then knead together. Let rise in extra greased bowl about 1 1/2 to 2 hours. Also grease top of dough. Punch down, divide into 3 rolls (like clay snakes) and braid onto greased pan. Let rise again for 3/4 hour. Brush top with egg yolk. Bake in a preheated oven at 375° for 20 to 25 minutes.Recipe categories: Breads, Breakfast, Yeast breads.
