  • eggs - 5 item
  • vanilla - 1 Tbsp
  • granulated sugar - 1 c
  • salt - 1/2 tsp
  • butter - 1 c
  • baking powder - 1/2 tsp
  • sifted cake flour - 3 c
  • shortening Crisco - 1/2 c
  • sweet milk - 1 c
  • box light brown sugar - 1 item
  • finely chopped nuts black walnuts - 1 c

How to make caramel nut pound cake:

Preheat oven to 325°. Cream butter, brown sugar and shortening thoroughly. Add granulated sugar; continue creaming. Add eggs, one at a time, beating after each addition. Sift baking powder with salt and flour. Add dry ingredients alternately with milk, beginning and ending with flour. Add vanilla, then nuts. Blend well. Turn batter into a well-greased and floured 10-inch tube pan and bake at 325° for 90 minutes or until cake tests done. Cool in pan 15 minutes before turning out of pan.
