Ingredients/Components
- stick butter or margarine - 1 item
- water - 1 c
- cocoa - 1/3 c
- Crisco shortening - 1/2 c
- salt - 1 tsp
- flour - 2 c
- sugar - 2 c
- buttermilk - 1/2 c
- eggs - 2 item
- baking soda - 1 tsp
- vanilla - 1 tsp
- Frosting:1 stick butter or margarine
- powdered sugar, sifted - 1 lb
- chopped walnuts - 1 c
How to make cake brownies:
Frosting:1 stick butter or margarine1/4 c. cocoa1/3 c. buttermilk1 lb. powdered sugar, sifted1 tsp. vanilla1 c. chopped walnuts In a saucepan, heat butter or margarine, water, cocoa and shortening until melted. In a bowl, mix salt, flour and sugar together. Pour hot mixture over flour mixture. Add buttermilk, eggs, baking soda and vanilla and mix together. Pour in jelly roll pan (15 1/2 x 10 1/2-inch). Bake at 350° for 20 minutes. Do not overbake.For frosting, heat butter or margarine, cocoa and buttermilk in a saucepan until it comes to a boil. Pour hot over powdered sugar. Add vanilla and walnuts. Spread over cake while cake is hot.
