Cabbage coleslaw
Ingredients/Components
- sugar - 1 c
- water - 1/4 c
- oil - 5 Tbsp
- grated carrots - 2 item
- cider vinegar - 3/4 c
- medium head cabbage, shredded - 1 item
- medium onion, sliced thin or minced - 1 item
- green or red pepper, minced optional - 1 item
- each: salt, celery seed and dry mustard - 1 tsp
How to make cabbage coleslaw:
Heat together sugar, cider vinegar, water and spices. Simmer 5 minutes. Pour over vegetables. Stir in 5 tablespoons oil. This will keep 2 to 4 weeks in refrigerator.For Creamy Coleslaw, mix in each serving dish: Drain a little and add mayonnaise or salad dressing or sour cream mixed with mayonnaise. Stir together and serve.
