Buttercream icing
Ingredients/Components
- milk - 2 Tbsp
- butter - 1/2 c
- shortening - 1/2 c
- clear vanilla extract - 1 tsp
- sifted confectioners sugar approximately 1 lb - 4 c
How to make buttercream icing:
Cream butter and shortening with mixer. Add vanilla. Gradually add sugar 1 cup at a time, beating well on medium speed. Scrape sides and bottom of bowl often. When all sugar has been mixed in, icing will appear dry. Add milk a teaspoon at a time, mixing at medium speed until light and fluffy. Can be stored in covered container in refrigerator 2 weeks.
